3 Ways To Strengthen Your Intuition

How many of you don’t trust your intuition?  We all go through times when we need to seek guidance from an external source even if it is to just confirm what we ourselves are feeling, seeing, hearing or knowing.  This is so normal.  However, there are many out there who don’t trust themselves.

It may be self-judgement that prevents you from trusting your gut instinct, or feeling like you are not good enough.  You may just feel that someone else must know more than you.  It is time to take a deep, deep breathe.  Stand tall, and prepare to strengthen that intuitive muscle.

So, without further ado, let’s look at three ways you can strengthen your intuition.

No. 1 – Practice, Practice, Practice.

Along my own journey I have realised that practice is the key.  For years I drove my mother a bit nutty reading photographs of her friends.  She would show me photographs.  I tuned in and talked about these people as if I knew them.  It freaked Mum out a lot as with the physical  and emotional stuff I was picking up on I was ‘bang on’.  I gained confidence with my intuition doing this, as well as trusting in what came through during remedial massage and aromatherapy sessions with people.

The need to practice is an ongoing journey.  I will probably be practicing for the rest of my life.  The readings I do on Facebook every now and then are a mutually valuable exercise.  You see, whilst I am providing support to others, I am also training, as well as receiving feedback and confirmation.

You don’t necessarily have to practice on other people.  How about practicing on yourself.  Have you ever felt compelled to do or say something out of the blue?  Did you trust and honour yourself and follow the inner push?

No. 2 – Stop Judging Yourself

This one follows on from No.1 nicely.  We can be our own worst enemy at times.  When we preempt and fear the judgement of others, we retreat inside ourselves.  We stem the flow of energy and we psychically shut down.  Over the last six months I have learnt a lot in standing up in front of others at Nelson Spiritualist Church to demonstrate my clairvoyant mediumship skills.  The first few times I looked at the faces of the people in the audience, and I second-guessed the information I was receiving.  I was also judging myself when psychic information was coming through rather than straight mediumship.

One day I decided I was just going to deliver whatever it was that came through, irrespective of whether it was psychic information or information from Spirit.  At the beginning of a demonstration I openly explain to the audience that when I am picking up on aches, pains, and emotions, I am reading psychically.  When I have someone with me in Spirit who is providing information, at that point I am doing mediumship.  I also let people know that I am still new to practicing mediumship demonstration.  Such transparency has translated to freedom for me.  Freedom from the fear of judgement.

My spirit team and I are continually experimenting and trying new things to see how they work.  With experimentation, some things work whilst other things need development.  It facilitates growth.

No. 3 – Get To Know Yourself

Sitting in meditation and getting to know your inner self is crucial.  The more that you work on you, the more barriers you drop and the clearer the channel you become.  When you know you, it also enables you to become more discerning of projection (which is crucial when reading for others).  Oh, and back up to point no. 2 for a second – don’t judge yourself for your emotional and mental stuff.  Be proud that you are courageously confronting yourself layer by layer.  This process takes time.  The more that you work on yourself, the clearer you will become.

When we are in our emotional and mental stuff, we are less likely to hear that inner intuitive voice we all have.  The clearer we become, the higher our personal vibration becomes and we are more easily able to communicate with the world of spirit.

I know the above-mentioned strategies are very straightforward and rather grounded (and could possibly be seen as not being metaphysical at all).  The word, ‘metaphysical’ essentially means ‘beyond the physical’.  However, you need a starting point.  Exploration into the metaphysical dimension always starts with you.
